It's time again for the Old Spice Swagger Series update!
It's time again for the Old Spice Swagger Series update! Halo 3 was the game of choice for the Summer 2009 Season, and thanks to our friends at Old Spice, there's a $3,000 grand prize up for grabs. The post-season playoff tournament began October 5th and has already seen 56 teams eliminated. We're now entering the fourth round of play -- one of these remaining eight teams will take home the Championship and the prize money!
The #1 overall seed
Nothing Personal has made it look easy so far, winning 3-0 in all three of their first round matches. They've already eliminated #64
Strong Force Within, #32
Scary Kidz Scaring Kidz, and #16
StarStruck -- who's next on their list? Number 8 ranked
Catch The Four. Catch The Four finished the regular season 50-7, which is weak when compared to Nothing Personal's 78-1 record, but still impressive. The two teams will battle it out this Wednesday at 9PM. In the next bracket down, we've got another Top 10 matchup: #5
Riot Gear vs. #4
Live in Color. Live in Color (46-2) won 22 straight games to end the season and have been rolling through the playoffs, which may be enough to make them the favorite over Riot Gear (59-6). Regardless, we expect and even match-up.
The Top 10 trend continues in the bottom matchups of the bracket. The #3 overall seed
Four of a Kind went undefeated throughout the regular season while accumulating 42 wins. They'll take on
Believe the Hyp3, the #6 seeded squad who finished 28-1. Both teams joined the competition late in the season and performed well, so this, too, should be a very close match. Finally, #10 ranked
Ambus will play #2 ranked
Gimme My Money for the right to advance to the semi-finals. Ambush went 24-0 this season after starting late, but Gimme My Money's record of 63-4 is a better indicator of their own skill level given the amount of matches played. If I were a betting man, I'd go with #2 Gimme My Money advancing -- but anything can happen!
That's it for this week's Old Spice Swagger Series update. Only eight teams remain, and by Thursday afternoon we'll know who the Final Four are. Just a guess: it's going to be four of the Top 10 ranked teams! Be sure to follow along at home as the tournament moves forward, and check back in a few weeks for another Halo 3 update!
