As the Gears Of War action heats up here at MLG Orlando, the battle of the hour was for spots in the Loser's Bracket Finals. The main stage saw two marquee match-ups with Prophecy taking on MOB Unknowns and Nsanez facing their own B-squad, Nsanez Instinct.
Prophecy kicked off their match with a thrilling 4-1 victory on Clocktower that had both the crowd and the players on their feet. Dealing a similar beating to MOB Unknowns in the following round, Prophecy claimed Mansion by a score of 4-1 to take a 2-0 map advantage.
While the first two rounds made for compelling spectating, there is no doubt that Prophecy clearly dominated the scene. Despite a strong showing on the third map, Gridlock, MOB Unknowns was unable to pull out a come from behind victory, ultimately losing a close map battle by a score of 4-3. Prophecy claimed the match 3-0 and moves on to the Loser's Bracket Finals.
In addition to the thrilling Prophecy match, emerging Gears Of War stars Nsanez were matched up against their own B-squad, Nsanez Instinct. No strangers to uphill battles, Nsanez were fresh off a win against prolific MLG favorites, The Last Resistance (TLR). After a late night last night against amateurs and an early match against TLR, many were wondering whether Nsanez had anything left in the tank, particularly against a team familiar with their players and tactics. However, Nsanez answered that question and showed us why they are the A-squad, cruising to victory and claiming their spot in the Loser's Bracket Finals.
