Congratulations to team Vizion on their victory!
The Call of Duty: World at War Spring 2009 Season has drawn to a close, and a champion has been crowned. Over 8,000 teams registered to compete throughout the Spring Season, and after three months of in-season play, followed by nearly a month of post-season battles, a winner has been decided. Without further delay, congratulations to team
Vizion on their victory! Here's a brief breakdown of their season!
Vizion joined the competition in the late stages of the season, playing their first match on June 6th -- nearly two months after the season began. In that match, they defeated
Swagga So Mean to kick off what would be an unforgettable season. Vizion rallied off 11 wins to start the season before running into a roadblock -
Fractured. Fractured gave Vizion their first loss of the season, but Vizion responded by winning their next 20 matches. For the most part, that's how their whole season went: win a bunch, lose once, win a bunch more -- rinse, and repeat. At one point during the season, Vizion won an incredible 29 straight matches. They finished the regular season ranked 3rd overall with a record of 128 wins and 16 losses.
As the #3 seed, Vizion had to play #62
Self Righteous in the first round. They won with relative ease, shutting Self Righteous out by a 3-0 score. Next up was #30
Victory. Once again, Vizion won in a shutout. The competition continued to get steeper when Vizion was matched up against #14
VenoM in the third round, but the pattern of victory continued as well. Vizion came out on top, once again with a 3-0 shutout victory. Once in the quarter finals, the members of team Vizion could practically taste the championship already. Their next obstacle was
Ultimate Rune, a low seeded team who had pulled off their own share of upsets to remain alive. Vizion made quick work of them, winning 3-0 to move on to the Semi Finals.
HavoK, the #7 ranked team, was awaiting them. HavoK had dominated the lower half the bracket all playoffs long, even knocking off #2 seeded
Clan Cleaning Products in the quarter finals. However, they were no match for Vizion, as once again Vizion reigned supreme and won the match by score of 3-0. In the championship game, Vizion faced off against
Victory Without Sacrifice, the #5 ranked team who pulled off a 3-0 upset over the #1 seeded
Independence, who had been the favorite to win it all season long. However, it appears that team Vizion was on cruise control, because another 3-0 shutout win secured them the Spring 2009 Season Championship!
Amazingly, Vizion did not lose a single map throughout the entire playoffs. That's a very impressive accomplishment when you consider the talent level of the majority of these teams. Once again, congratulations to Vizion on winning the Spring 2009 Call of Duty 5 Championship! If you haven't already,
