It's only been three short weeks since team VizioN took home the Call of Duty: World at War Spring 2009 Championship, but it's already time to get back to the battlefield. The Summer 2009 Season began in July, and has now eclipsed the halfway point. Nearly 7,000 teams are already registered for this season, and there's still plenty of time time to join in on the competition to earn yourself a playoff spot!

Last season’s champion squad, VizioN, entered the playoffs as the #3 seed, but was clearly an underdog when compared to the #1 and #2 seeds. However, VizioN is proving their worth this time around. At 95-9, VizioN currently sits atop the standings, nearly 400 XP ahead of pack. While they have a ways to go before being considered the best Call of Duty team ever, they're showing the world that they belong in the discussion. Behind VizioN is another Spring playoff team, HaVoK. HaVoK is currently 86-13. In third place is HeLiX, who have won 80 of 85 matches and sit with a 16 match winning streak. This has put them exactly 100 XP behind HaVoK But that's nothing -- Velocirandom's, the #4 ranked team, have won an incredible 43 straight matches, bringing their overall record to 66-4. Victory Without Sacrifice holds the #5 spot with an 88-10 record.

TeeJayy SUX is ranked 41st, but has the most wins on the ladder with 142. However, their 73 losses may keep them out of the playoffs. The #7 ranked Schizophrenia takes second place in that category with 126 wins. The longest streak on the ladder of course belongs to Velocirandom's, but #50 ranked ReaCTioNs are undefeated with 31 straight wins. If they continue this trend, they'll surely be looking at a playoff spot in September.

That's it for this week’s update. Two weeks from now, we'll be kicking off the final month of the season. Though VizioN and other top teams appear to have a solid grasp on playoff positions, the battles for the remaining spots will surely intensify as the season gets shorter. Good luck to all competitors, and sure to check back in two weeks for another Summer 2009 Season update!
