The Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare Spring 2009 Season is officially over as of this past Friday, July 31st. The season began in April, and after three long months of competition among over 12,000 registered teams, the top 64 ranked squads were sorted into a single-elimination playoff bracket. Friday's championship match put a cap on another great season, and once again restored the title of Champion to EgR EnVyUs. Congratulations to Foreplayy and the rest of EnVyUs! Here's a brief recap of their championship season.

Coming off of a third-place finish and early playoff exit in the Winter 2009 Season, EnVyUs was out for redemption from the start. They won their first match of the Spring 2009 season against wX ReBoRN on April 2nd, and never looked back. It wasn't until 15 wins into the season that EnVyUs suffered their first loss, and the hands of Genesis. It would be one of only four losses throughout the entire three-month season. When regular season play came to a close at the end of June, EnVyUs sat in 10th place with a record of 70 wins and 4 losses -- not to mention 19 straight wins worth of momentum heading into round one.

EnVyUs's veteran presence proved critical as they defeated their first few playoff opponents, Malice and Art of Excelence, by scores of 3-1 and 3-0, respectively. Next, they went on to defeated #28 Automatic Reload in the third round. The win propelled EnVyUs to the quarter-finals, where #4 ranked Verdict was waiting. It was likely EnVyUs's most challenging match of the tournament at the time, but a 3-1 victory silenced any doubts that they were the real deal. EnVyUs then defeated the last remaining Cinderella seed, #48 ranked Insanity to advance to the championship game against FeaR. Anticipation for the match built for nearly a week as the two teams prepared, but when push came to shove, it was EnVyUs who came out as the victor.
