Welcome to another Call of Duty 4: Modern Warefare Spring 2009 Playoff update! It's been one week since the playoffs began, and after Wednesday's round two action, only 16 teams remain. Round three begins tonight, with matches starting at 9 PM EST. Winners will advance to the fourth round, which is set to take place on Wednesday. Here's a preview of tonight's matches.
While it's no surprise that the #1 seed
PerForManCe is still around, their opponent may be a little unexpected.
Insanity, the #48 seed, defeated #17
PRODIGIES and #16
High Hopes en route to their matchup with Performance. Both teams advanced rather easily with 3-0 shutout wins in rounds one and two. The #8 seed
Gaming Addicts are set to play #41
Black People. Both teams are also undefeated throughout the tournament so far.
Automatic Reload, the #28 seed, will surely have their hands full when playing their next opponent: #12
EnVyUs. Envyus brings a strong veteran advantage, but you can't count out Automatic Reload, who finished the regular season 98-11 and just defeated #5
Paranoia. #4
Verdict is still awaiting the result of
RaDaR NuBs vs
The Gauntlet to determine who their round three opponent will be.
Meanwhile, in the bottom half of the bracket, #2
FeaR made quick work of their first two opponents, winning each match in 3-0 fashion. They'll play #15
BrotherHood tonight. #26
Questionable Trio defeated #7
Team Violent in round two, and now must face #23
Authentic. Authentic defeated #10
Four Deep in the last round to advance. #6
Sideways has cruised so far, but better be careful in their upcoming match with
Sick Minded. Sick Minded entered as the #54 seed and has defeated #11
tR x Remake and #22
Lets Start Uh Riot. In the final matchup, #3
ZeRo will face #14
Primetime. Both teams are yet to lose a single map in the tournament so far.
The tournament so far has been a thrill. There have been a few upsets along the way, and some surprise teams are heading into tonight's matchups with a chance to reach the quarter-finals. However, other veteran teams, including six of the top ten seeds, will be looking to shut them down. Be sure to check out the
Playoff Bracket sometime on Tuesday to find the results and see who will be playing on Wednesday. Check back next week to find out which teams make the final four!
