The Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare Summer 2009 Season has finally concluded! Congratulations to Team FeaR, who last week defeated the #11 ranked Evil to take home the Summer 2009 Championship! Keep reading for all of the details!

Team FeaR left another incredible mark in the history books this season, going 98-1 during ladder play. They won 98 matches straight before finally suffering a loss. Nearly 6,000 other teams tried (and failed) to put up similar numbers. Sixty-four teams, including Team FeaR, qualified for the post-season playoff tournament -- a single elimination tournament that sends half of the remaining competitors home each round. Early opponents such as #60 Prequel, #28 Paralyze, and #21 Forever failed to phase Team FeaR at all. It wasn't until #45 seeded VizuaL took them to the 5th map that FeaR ever felt threatened.

Still, Team FeaR advanced with a 5-map win and moved on to face the #1 overall team, EnVyUs. EnVyUs were the defending champions, and after a 135-8 season, hoped to repeat. In another 5-map classic, Team FeaR sent EnVyUs packing and earned themselves a spot in the finals, where they would face #11 Evil. Evil had finished the regular season with 88 wins and just 9 losses, but they were no match for Team FeaR. With a 3-1 victory, Call of Duty 4 veteran FeaR Moho and his squad claimed the Call of Duty 4 Summer 2009 Championship!

It was a great Summer 2009 season all around. We saw plenty of amazing achievements by teams throughout both the regular season and the playoffs. Team FeaR's match against EnVyUs went the distance and was purely epic. One can only wonder what the future will bring, with Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 releasing in just a few weeks. GameBattles would like to thank everyone who competed on the Call of Duty 4 ladder this season, and would once again like to congratulate Team FeaR on the Summer 2009 Championship!
