Welcome to another Call of Duty 4 Summer Season update!
Welcome to another Call of Duty 4 Summer Season update! Here we are at last -- back in playoff mode! The post season starts in just two days, and the Top 64 teams will battle it out in a win-or-go-home Playoff Tournament! With Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 on the horizon, this could be one of the last meaningful seasons on Call of Duty 4. Who will get their names in the history book?
EnVyUs is certainly on the right track to doing just that, sitting in first place with a record of 132 wins and 8 losses. After winning the Spring 2009 Season Championship, EnVyUs has proven they have what it takes to repeat. The only thing standing between them and a #1 seed -- their activity level. If EnVyUs doesn't get a match in over the next few days, they're in danger of not qualifying for the post season. Meanwhile, #2 ranked
BK and the Randies are in good shape as well. They've won 114 matches and lost only 3, and have a lead of nearly 200 XP over 3rd place
Team Violent Apprehension (115-4). And just 70 XP behind them sits team
Xpectations, who have gone 102-5 this season. Even #5 ranked
FaZeD is less than 100 XP behind Violent Apprehension. It's really a crap shoot going down the stretch: BK and the Randies, Violent Apprehension, Xpectations, and FaZeD are essentially battling for the #2-5 seeds -- unless, of course, EnVyUs doesn't qualify, in which case the #1 seed will be on the line as well.
A few things to keep in mind as the season wraps up: Team
FeaR is a veteran Call of Duty squad and has been to the playoffs several times before. They dominated just about everyone they played this season, now with a 98-1 record. The regular season has become a formality for them, and you can expect them to step up their game for the playoffs, even if they're not a Top 5 seed.
ZeRo is another team that can't be overlooked. They're 94-5 and spent much of the season in or near the Top 5.
Fully Loaded Gaming, it appears, will make the playoffs. Their 189 wins will be the most in the playoffs, because
Friends or Enemies, winners of 236 matches, are likely going to miss the cut.
That's about all there is to say for this week's update. It's been a great season, and a ton of teams have played well, but nothing beats the playoff atmosphere. Your whole season depends on the next game you play. Will it all pay off, or go down as a waste of time? Check back in a couple weeks and we'll get you updated on the first few rounds of the playoff tournament!
