Welcome to this week's update of the Call of Duty 4 Summer 2009 Season Ladder! Over the last two weeks, a lot has changed, including a complete shake up of the Top 5 ranked teams! Today, we enter the last week of August -- leaving roughly five weeks to play in the regular season. The top 64 teams at the close of the season will qualify for the playoff tournament! Here's a little refresher in case you haven't been following the competition.

In our last update, Verdict was ranked 4th overall with 91 wins and just 6 losses. Now, Verdict has won 19 straight matches and has swiftly moved into first place with 110 total wins. Team Violent Apprehension has climbed from the #5 spot held last week into the #2 position. After starting the season with an amazing 96 game winning streak, they finally suffered a loss to ZeRo FrictioN, the #44 ranked team. Violent Apprehension has since won four more matches, giving them a record of 100-1. Team ZeRo remains in the #3 spot with 90 wins and 5 losses, and are only 300 XP behind Verdict and Violent Apprehension. Last week's #1 ranked team , PureTalent, has fallen to the #4 slot despite a current 3 game win streak. Their record of 117 wins and 10 losses is good enough for 4,745 XP -- just 5 XP out of the Top 3. Meanwhle, team FeaR (83-0) has dropped from #2 to #5 after a couple of idle weeks. They are currently less than 100 XP ahead of the #6 ranked team, EnVyUs (92-5).

Death By Numbers, formerly known as Fully Loaded Gaming, still have the most wins on the ladder, now with 166. They lead everyone else in that category by over 30 wins -- but they've also lost 52 times this season. They're currently ranked 40th, and in a playoff position. Team FeaR now has some breathing room in terms of having the longest current winning streak on the ladder. Although they haven't played in a few weeks, an 83-game win streak is still impressive. Violent Apprehension had won 96 in a row before losing their first match of the season. rLz GaMing is ranked #31 with a 50-0 record. Ten teams still have winning streaks of over 20 games.

Though the Top 5 was pretty well shaken up over the last couple weeks, the same handful of teams are atop the ladder. This might be the first time we've ever seen two teams dominate the way that Violent Apprehension and Team FeaR have -- Violent Apprehension came just four wins short of accomplishing the amazing feat of starting the season 100-0, and Team Fear's 83-0 record leaves them with a shot at it. Of course, we'll keep you updated. Check back in a couple weeks for another Call of Duty 4 Spring 2009 Season update!
