Welcome to another Super Smash Bros. Brawl update, sponsored by BIC Comfort 3 Advance Shavers! The playoff tournament continues to move forward as we're down to just four teams remaining in the Winner's Bracket. In case you don't know how double-elimination tournaments work here on GameBattles, here's a refresher: When a match is played in the Winner's Bracket, the loser is sent to the Loser's Bracket, where he or she must defeat other teams who have lost to eventually earn a shot at redemption. The winner moves on as usual. When all is said and done, the winner of the Winner's Bracket and the winner of the Loser's Bracket will play to determine a Champion!

In the Winner's Bracket tonight, No. 49 ranked Sally will take on No. 12 ranked ImSoSlick. Sally went 27-4 in the regular season, but is still considered an underdog against the 53-7 ImSoSlick. Meanwhile No. 23 ranked Kira will face Super Smash Bros. Brawl legend Jumpman for the right to advance. Kira put up impressive numbers this season, finishing 59-11, but Jumpman brings a slew of first place finishes, five playoff seasons, and a .931 all-time win percentage to the table. It could be an interesting match and a great opportunity for Kira.

The Loser's Bracket is a little more wide open. No. 30 ranked dabuz, winner of the Winter 2009 Playoffs, will play the loser of Sally vs. ImSoSlick. Dabuz went 25-1 during the regular season. JudgeMeow, ranked #26, will play the loser of Jumpman vs. Kira. JudgeMeow has not won a championship yet, but has qualified for the playoffs in each of the three seasons he's competed. He won 30 matches and lost just 3 times in the Summer 2009 season.

No matter how the bracket plays out, we're in for some exciting post-season action over the next few days. All of the above matches will take place tonight beginning at 7PM. Next round will begin on Wednesday, November 4th. Be sure to follow along on the Super Smash Bros. Brawl Summer 2009 Playoff Bracket, and check back next Monday for another update!
