GENERAL ONLINE LADDER/TOURNAMENT RULES
1. General
- It is the responsibility of all users of this ladder to know and understand the rules before accepting a challenge or playing in a match.
- By sending or accepting a challenge in the challenge system, you acknowledge that you have read, understand, and agree to abide by the rules posted here which include posting or accepting challenges in Match Finder.
- Our goal here at GameBattles is to provide gamers with a place to find fun and competitive battles. In order to accomplish this goal, we will not tolerate players or teams with an unsportsmanlike demeanor attempting to destroy the friendly atmosphere we are trying to create. Violators of this rule will be dealt with accordingly. Intentional abuse of a rule to use any rule against another player to secure a win will warrant action from GB staff.
- No XP will be awarded for playing a team 10 levels above or below the level of your team.
- Gamebattles prohibits members from creating or managing more than one active username on a ladder from the same household.
- Staff abuse will not be tolerated in any form, be it messaging, forums, or tickets. Situations such as this will be handled on a case-by-case basis.
- Verbally abusing other players is unacceptable. This includes but not limited to the use of foul or degrading language on this ladder. If you are unable to be respectful to any player, team or GameBattles staff, you and or your team risk warnings up to removal from this ladder.
- Rules are subject to change at any time, so please check them often.
- A team (4 players per team) has 15 minutes to show-up and be ready to start the match. If a team does not show up in the first 15 minutes, the opposing team can report a forfeit, thus the late team will lose the match.
- "Glitching" and abusing the In-Game mechanics in ANY way is not tolerated. Our goal is to give the online gaming community a place to compete with others and we will not allow cheaters to get in the way of that goal.
- Each team needs to show proof of winning each match to be given the win for it. All proof must contain the in game full scoreboard (showing clearly) at some point during that match, with both team's players to be considered valid.
- Both teams are responsible for reporting the win / loss within 30 minutes of the completed match.
- For a match to be official, the challenge must be accepted in the match scheduler.
- Any player participating in a match must be on the roster for at least 12 hours and can't be updated within the past 12 hours prior to the match start time indicated in the accepted match settings.
- All roster spots must be comprised of only one valid gamertag. Spelling and spaces must be exact, but is not case sensitive.

Hosting Rules:
1. Higher ranked team chooses what game they would like to host. The lower ranked team then chooses 1 of the 2 remaining games to host. The higher ranked team then gets to host the unchosen map. Maps are played in the order listed in the challenge.
2. In a Best of 5 series, the higher ranked team chooses 2 maps to host. The lower ranked team chooses 2 of the remaining 3 maps to host. The higher ranked team then gets to host the unchosen map.
3. The team not hosting the map being played may choose whether they want to play as Chimera or Human.
3. The higher ranked team may choose to act as the lower ranked team to choose their spawn more rather than to host.
Ladder Play:
1. All matches must be played in their entirety unless both teams agree to postpone or cancel the match.
2. Randomized maps MUST be used. Users cannot pick maps or change options selected in the challenge details. The staff will support no other agreements, (i.e. verbal, AIM, email). Unless specified otherwise in the challenge details, these default rules will be followed.
3. A "Lag Test" must be completed prior to starting the match. This is a test round that does not count and uses the standard game settings that will be used during the match. For the lag test, a map that is not scheduled for play must be used. If the game lags during this test, a new host must be chosen. If both teams cannot find or agree upon an acceptable host, the match needs to be removed. To have the match removed, both teams need to submit tickets asking that the match be canceled.
4. Teams may not delay the match for more than 5 minutes between each map. If a team delays the start for longer than 5 minutes between maps, they will forfeit that map. The team that did not delay must submit a ticket with valid proof showing that this delay did occur. First, the match must be completed and the scores must be reported correctly. Do not dispute the match on purpose. After the match is complete, submit a ticket containing the URL link of the proof.
5. Maps are played in the order listed in the challenge.
6. If a player/host disconnects during the initial launch of a map, the map will be restarted. The initial launch is defined as within the first 30 seconds or before the first kill. If both teams disagree over when the disconnection took place, video proof must be provided. First, the match must be completed and the scores must be reported correctly. The URL link of the proof must be submitted in a ticket once the match is completed.
7. If the host disconnects after the map has started, the host's team forfeits that map. After the map has started is after 30 seconds or after the first kill. If both teams disagree over when the disconnection took place, video proof must be provided. First, the match must be completed and the scores must be reported correctly. The URL link of the proof must be submitted in a ticket once the match is completed.
8. If a player disconnects after the game has started, the game will continue and a player may be re-invited. The re-invited player may be the player that dropped or a new eligible player. The only exception to this rule is for a "Kill Dependent Game Mode". Please see rule 9 below.
9. A "Kill Dependent Game Mode," often referred to as Deathmatch, Sharpshooter or Slayer, is a game mode whose winner is decided by the overall number of kills, or points gained from kills. Because this mode relies on the number of players present, a team can never play shorthanded when playing this mode. A Team that loses a player during this game mode, after the first kill has occurred, forfeits that map.
13. If a team loses players during a map, they must find eligible substitutes prior to beginning the next map. A team is not allowed to start a map shorthanded. For a “Kill Dependent Game Mode”, a team can never play shorthanded as stated in rule number 9. Teams are allowed a 5 minute grace period to find eligible substitutes between maps as per rule number 7. Please follow the steps in rule number 7 if the match is delayed longer than 5 minutes between maps.
14. Deliberate and repeated team-killing or committing suicide on purpose during Team Deathmatch will result in a forfeit of the map. If a team is accused of violating this rule, the accuser must provide valid video proof. First, the match must be completed and the scores must be reported correctly. The URL link of the proof must be submitted in a ticket once the match is completed. An Admin has the ability to overturn the match if valid proof is provided.
Tournament Play:
1. The Bracket will be a Best of 5 Game Match, Single Elimination Bracket.
2. Once one Player wins 3 Games, the Match is over.
3. Game Types will be set for for each Round of the Bracket.
4. Each Match will consist of Team Deathmatch and Core Control game modes.
5. After losing a Match, a team is out fo the tournament.
6. The higher ranked team chooses 1 map to host. The lower ranked team chooses 2 of the remaining 4 maps to host. The higher ranked team then gets to host the 2 maps that weren’t chosen. The maps must be played in the order given.
7. The team not hosting the map being played may choose whether they want to play as Chimera or Human.
8. The higher ranked team may choose to act as the lower ranked team for the match.
12. The Bracket will run on a Tuesday/Thursday schedule. Matches with a Tuesday Default Match Time must be played by 9:00 PM EST on Wednesday. Matches with a Thursday Default Match Time must be played by 9:00 PM EST on Friday. Any type of rescheduling up until these points must be agreed upon by both teams.
13. The Default Match Time will be 8:00 PM EST.
14. If a Match isn’t played, and neither Team submits a Ticket requesting the Forfeit win, the Match win will be decided by staff.
Changing Sides:
Teams will spawn on the map depending on what race they are. In order to change your spawn for Core Control, you must create a new game after each round. You may then go into the Equipment Room and hit R1 or L1 to change your race. Before the match starts, make sure that your team checks the equipment room to make sure they are the correct race. You may also select 'change team' if their are multiple people in the party, but make sure you check that you are the correct race or change to the correct race.
