The Old Spice Swagger Series is heating up!
In case you're unaware, GameBattles and Old Spice have once
again come together to bring you the Old
Spice Swagger Series. The Fall 2008 season features Rainbow
Six: Vegas 2 for the Xbox 360, and on the line is $2500 of cold
hard cash. The competition runs through the end of December, which leaves
plenty of time to register and start competing. Remember, only the top 32 teams
will make the playoffs! Here's an update on how things look so far:
The season
is less than a month old, but already some teams have established themselves as
the competition to beat. The first place team, BLuDRu5H,
along with Co-Leaders BLuDMoNeYY and BLuDSaVaGe,
have done an excellent job in building and maintaining a supreme team of RB6
players. They have lost just 13 times in 100 matches and continue to look
strong. Who can compete with that? Look no further than their most recent loss
to the second place team, Something
Questionable.
Something
Questionable is a team returning from the Summer Season and looking
to improve on their previous record of 120 wins and 40 losses. They have
already contributed 98 wins to that cause, having lost only 20 times thus far
in 118 matches played this season. Like INSTINX, Something Questionable also
got off to a blazing start, losing just one of their first 16 contests. When
asked about their recent victory over INSTINX, sQ Co-Leader II
Big Whodi II appropriately responded: “It was a war.”
Both
INSTINX and Something Questionable have firmly cemented themselves in the
playoff picture, but that still leaves 30 other spots to be filled. Who else is
a contender? Hostile
Takeover currently ranks 14th with 20 wins and only two
losses. In the summer season, they finished with a solid 35-3 win-loss record,
winning 28 matches in a row at one point before being ousted in just the second
round of the playoffs. They will undoubtedly be looking for redemption.
And of
course, you can't count out our MLG Dallas Champions, iCoNz.
Not only did they dominate in Dallas,
but they have just recently defeated MoB Rage
IRI (another contender) for the Summer 2008 Season championship. They sit comfortably in 4th place
with a record of 31 wins and 6 losses, and it could be argued that if they
played more matches, they would be in the top three.
There's
still far too many battles to be played for anybody to choose a favorite, but
the teams highlighted above (as well as several others) will have the chance to
prove themselves once the playoffs do roll around at the end of the year. The
competition will only get more intense as the season goes on, so what are you
waiting for? Enroll
