Welcome to another edition of the GameBattles Sports update!
Welcome to another edition of the GameBattles Sports update! The Madden NFL 10 Ladder has consistently provided entertainment throughout the season so far. Every week, it seems, a new player takes over the #1 spot and the rankings shake up. Meanwhile, a few competitors continue to fight for pride on the Fight Night Round 4 Ladder, on which season play closes a week from today. However, the excitement is really boiling over because the MLB 09: The Show All Star Championship Playoff Tournament is down to it's final two competitors! Keep reading for all of the latest information.
Let's start with Fight Night Round 4. Last week,
MeanMachine increased his win streak to 20 matches, and once again claimed first place in the standings. He has amassed 68 wins total this season, and has lost only 18 times.
Team PINTO, the former #1 who has traded positions with MeanMachine several times throughout the season is now just over 100XP behind the leader. With a record of 30 wins and just 3 losses, PINTO appeared to have a solid grasp on first place just a few weeks ago when MeanMachine's activity dwindled. Now, however, it's back to an all out brawl between the two. A third player is in the mix as well:
a-m-. Although A-m- is nearly 900 XP behind the leader, his undefeated 15-0 record cannot be questioned. We'll keep an eye out over the next week and see who ends up on top!
To the grid-iron we go. The NFL season so far has been incredibly exciting. It seems that almost every game has come down to the wire. Well, the Madden NFL 10 season here on GameBattles has followed suite! For the third straight week, we have a new player topping the charts at #1.
Oakland Blazers in 2010 has used a 7 game winning streak to leap into first place, surpassing both
JIGG NATION (now #2) and
Camp 8 (now #3). Oakland Blazers has a total of 55 wins in 66 matches, and leads JIGG NATION by just 17 XP. JIGG NATION has won 57 of 67 matches. Camp 8, last week's #1 ranked player, has gone 12 games without a loss, but now finds himself roughly 50 XP behind the leader. Camp 8 has won 49 matches and lost just 7 times.
Big Vanilla EarthQuake is now ranked #4 after winning 6 games in a row, giving him a total record of 44-7. Below him, in the #5 slot, is
ONE CITY, ONE TEAM, who has gone 28-8 so far this season. However, plenty of time still remains as players will be competing until the close of the Fall 2009 Season at the end of December.
Finally, the main event! The MLB 09: The Show All-Star Championship Ladder has been a huge success. Throughout August, hundreds of players battled on the ladder hoping to qualify for playoffs. The Top 128 ranked teams did just that. Things seemed to be going pretty smoothly for the #1 seeded
mementomori3, who advanced into Round 4 last week. However, his opponent #48 seeded
cubfanbudman2 was able to eliminate mementomori to move on to the quarter finals. Cubfanbudman then went on to lose to
Th3xNik3 o KiNg, the #24 seed. The win put Nik3 into the semi-finals -- just two wins away from the $10,000 grand prize. Despite momentum from advancing through most of the top half of the bracket, his luck, too, ran short. The #5 seeded
Good Luck eliminated Nik3 and advanced to the Finals. Meanwhile, on the lower half of the bracket, two favorites cruised through the competition on a collision course for each other. Number 6 ranked
I Am The Show faced off against #2 ranked
KC's Finest. Calling a winner was virtually a toss up, as both players had been among the top ranks throughout the season. However, it was I Am The Show who prevailed and moved on to the Finals. The championship match is set to take place tomorrow, Thursday, September 24th at 9:00 PM EST. When all is said and done, a champion will have been crowned, and the $10,000 grand prize awarded to one of these two competitors.
That pretty much covers it. The last week in GameBattles Sports has brought plenty of thrills, loads of excitement, and even some drama. And we still don't know who the winners are! Remember, the Fight Night Round 4 Summer 2009 Season comes to a close on September 30th, and although Madden NFL 10 still has several months left before a playoff tournament -- hey, who isn't excited by football? Check back next Wednesday and we'll take a final look at the Fight Night Round 4 standings, and announce the winner of the MLB 09 The Show All-Star Championship!
