Welcome to another installment of the GameBattles Sports Update! This week, the MLB 09: The Show All-Star Championship Ladder is entering the quarter-finals, while Fight Night Round 4 players are preparing for the end of the season. The Madden NFL 10 ladder just began, and will run through December -- but with the real football season finally upon us, it's hard not to be excited! Here's a quick look at the progress of all three ladders.
Over the last week on the Fight Night Round 4 Ladder,
Team PINTO was finally dethroned from his spot atop the standings. Thanks to an 18-game winning streak, the 66-win and 18-loss
MeanMachine has taken over first place by less than 100 XP. PINTO, who is now 30-3 and has won 13 straight matches, has fallen to second place and still has some time to re-capture first place.
A-m- has moved into third place, still undefeated, now with 14 wins. Because of this shake-up,
GET SMACKED has dropped to 4th place, and
sYntrofia.Lukester to 5th. For the first time in over a month,
PROTECT YA NECK has fallen out of the Top 5. Although general inactivity has cancelled any plans for a playoff tournament following the season, bragging rights are still on the line! There's now just two weeks remaining, and it's really a three-horse race.
On the virtual football field,
JIGG NATION has taken control. With 50 wins and just 8 losses, JIGG is now ranked #1 overall on the Madden NFL 10 Ladder.
Camp 8, the #2 ranked player, is right on JIGG's heels -- just over 100 XP behind the leader. Camp 8 won two games last week, bringing his streak to 11 wins, and his total record to 48-7. Another player who has been floating near the top since the beginning of the season,
Oakland Blazers in 2010, is still fairing well. With a record of 48 wins and 11 losses, Blazers has secured 3rd position for another day. However, a few new players have moved towards the top as well.
M3RCuTiO is 40-7 and is ranked #4, while the #5 spot belongs to
Respect My Defense.
BLACK HOLE has lost two straight games, and has fallen out of the Top 5 for the first time this season.
Now, on to the main event. The MLB 09: The Show All-Star Championship Ladder playoff tournament has moved into it's 5th round -- without the #1 seed. The #1 ranked
mementomori3, who finished the regular season 98-24, was beatin the 4th round by the #48 seed
CubFanBudMan2020 (25-12). CubFanBudMan will now face
Th3xNiK3 o King in the quarter finals. Th3xNiK3 o King finished the season 49-11 and entered the tournament as the #24 seed. Further down in the bracket, #5 seed
Good Luck awaits a decision on the 4th round match between
Mr. Johan Santana and
Bluebori, the winner of which will be his opponent. The #83 seed
cubbies4lyfe will play #6
I Am The Show for a bid to the semi-finals, and #74
Brooklyn will play the winner of
BlueIce8157 vs.
KC's Finest. With $10,000 on the line, the handful of teams remaining are surely feeling the pressure. We'll see how they perform over the next week!
That's it for this week's GameBattles Sports Update! By this time next week, we should know who will be playing in the MLB 09: The Show All Star Championship Ladder Finals for $10,000! We'll also have a better idea of who's in the running for #1 on Fight Night Round 4, and of course, we'll keep you updated on the Madden NFL 10 Ladder. Be sure to check back in a week for the next update!
