I mean, dont get me wrong, I will be buying this system in a second but, its not what I expected. The graphics are that of a high end PC and that is not good enough. Microsoft is just trying to get the jump on sony in sales. This is costing the xbox to technolgicially decline. The PS3 is operating with a starter chip at 4.5ghz. That is truly amazing. If sony can turn their online service upside down and get it going like live, the xbox will fall flat on its face. The xbox 360 will be a great system but nowhere near a revolution of gaming.

If you are up for it....

You should write up your thoughts in a longer format, send it to me at polira@gamebattles.com and I will get it published on our Xbox 360 content channel!

It's user opinions like these that are fun to read and make or break a new system.

It's easy not to be impressed...mainly because not many of the games being developed are to the system's full potential yet. There were basically 2 or 3 great games during the PS2 launch. For the Xbox launch the only game really pushing the system was Halo. This time it seems they have no Halo ready to ride on, which is a good and bad thing. System specs really have nothing much to do with who'll be the leader of this next generation console race, unless Sony and Nintendo REALLY slip up big time.

Each console will need innovative exclusive games to pull off a big victory. Sure it's all good that MS included a webcam like Sony did ...but if they want to solidify their position and move up.. for example they'll have to take the webcam and do more with it other than just video chatting your Live buddies. Some PS2 devs have proved that the Eye Toy can really pull off some cool things when applied to gaming. Let's hope MS devs can find just as cool things to do with it.

Basically once developers can fully understand the limits of the systems...we should be seeing some great things from all of the consoles. The technology is here, we just need fresh ideas. Realistically Sony will still have the lead if all goes well...but the gap will definatly be closing.

The xbox community is to big and popular now that it will be very hard to lose its products and services to SONY. With XBOX 360 being released before PS3 it will help sales a lot and could drive PS2 fans to try out XBOX 360 and bost the online community of xbox. With the ability to have 3 diffrent types of xbox you can buy it will really be a change and should be very interesting to see which will be the most popular. I already know im buying the most expensive one with HD.

It's because the guy wanted to know what the quote refers to, the xbox or the ps3 when the xbox360 part of IGN made the quote. Let's see? Why would they report about ps3 on the xbox360 part of IGN? I love IGN, they're great, I wasn't knocking them, i was laughing at the guy in the thread for his question.

They are taking the focus off gaming and try to inquire to many different things. Like pictures next to your name, who really cares what you look like? They should just focus on the quality of the games they put it, and the gameplay and graphics it self. Not worry about what is looks like or how "sexy" it is. People will buy it due to what it has to offer.

And yes, people will buy it, but as I was watching Zyos and all of them play it, I was not too impressed with what I saw. It looked more like a xbox title now, but maybe that is just me. Like you said, they are doing this to get ahead of sales we have all seen what happenes when companys rush video games, but what will happen to a rushed console? We will find out this Winter.

I'm not. The MTV show sucked, but the trailers I saw were kickass. I love all the features it has too.

People who design games for Xbox and people who design Xbox Live are not the same. They would be doing other things for Live anyway.

I was impressed with the footage of Gears of War, and NBA 2K6 and GR3, and NFS:W and such.

Perfect Zero wasnt impressive at all compared with the above, it was very meh, bland textures and lighting, and laggy

Yes, I forgot to talk about the other games, Perfect dark was a meh. The others were a great show.

3,000 post for me o_o

I think I will celebrate.

The footage they showed at the MTV event was not up to par with what the end product will look like by any means. The dev kits they worked on to make that build was using a alpha model which has two 2.5 ghz G5s instead of the three 3.2 ghz processors as well as the video card is much better on the 360. I expect there to be a bit of a leap with Perfect Dark Zero at E3, but you can easily compare this game with the original Halo at E3 which was bland and looked terrible at the time. Anyways due to the underwhelming power of the Dev kits along with Rare's ability to not make a crappy looking game(look at kameo) than expect PDZ to look much better at launch.

That crap shortage is Bull****.

Every Microsoft person that is interviewed is asked about the shortage. They say the same damn thing every time.

"I don't know how many orders are going to be filled but we are working 24/7 to make enough consoles."

Thats total bull****, if they were working that hard we would have enough now.

In a word: No.

You people need to realize these are launch games. that means the developers had less time to develop the games on the final hardware than any other game will have. developers haven't been able to learn tricks and what they can push out of the machine. Launch is just that, a launch. Its a starting point, something to take and build off of. And I honestly don't care all that much about exactly how pretty a game is. all I care about is gameplay. And the re-vamped xbox live service and the new user interface of the 360 has completely impressed me. And unless sony can implement some kind of similar service, then I can't see it succeeding in the long run, as more gamers go online.

What I'm dissapointed in is today's gamers. You people that grew up with a playstation as your first system. All you seem to care about is how pretty and "shiny" the games look. I mean, there isn't a single xbox/ps2/gamecube game in my top 10 favorite games ever. by system, there's 4 snes, 2 n64, 2 pc, 1 playstation, and 1 nes. but today's generation of gamers would take one look at The Legend of Zelda or Metroid, and make some comment about it being ancient and ugly.

thats a bad arguement. the question is wether ppl are dissapointed or not. yes or no. launch games or no launch games. and overall these are dissapointing launch games. a launch can be just that , a launch but does that mean it has to be a bad one?. none of these games scream next-gen and that has not because they are launch titles. a launch title doesnt mean a bad game. halo was a launch title, rouge leader was a launch title. look back at those launches and then look at this one. ppl just cant say "yes its ok for these games to play like xbox games and look like good looking xbox games cause there launch titles". thats just not an excuse for MS. its ok tho as long as the system has good software i in the long run (which is will) it will always be a good buy.

Recently I was watching some videos of Madden 06 and I was just amazed at how real the graphics are. But theres just some things missing. Then Live 06 OMG it's the same freaking thing as all the ones on Xbox. I mean if I'm going to spend 400 dollars on somthing I want amazing quality and not somthing that will be worn out in no time. I think the PS3 will win out on the 360 because I think Microsoft was just rushing it.

Exactly...

which is why I don't waste my money or time in getting the system right when it comes out. I'm still occupied with other Xbox games right now... I'll get a 360 in a few months when some decent games are being released for it.

and Zer0...

I definitely agree with you there... All of my all time favorite games are the ones that started it all.

Nintendo = Any Super Mario game...and Contra (I think it was on Nintendo)
Super Nintendo = Mario Kart (that game was freakin awesome)
N64 = Goldeneye (no contest)
Playstation = Final Fantasy 7

Elder scrolls and Gears of War are on top of my list of best looking 360 games.

If rumors are correct (I have done 0 research on this), keyboards and mouses will be sold in stores for the 360... if so, I will certainly be picking one up sometime early next year. Coming from PC gaming (ghost recon, cs, and ut), I must say using a keyboard and mouse is much better than a couple joysticks.

Wait till you see PS3 in game and the system it self if its any better than 360 more power to ya, but the system is all I wanted and more the system rocks. ANd with the coming games and LIVE its only getting better. Have fun with ps3 if you chose it. Just dont hope for a system with way better graphics and games made with blu ray or be prepared to pay 80 bucks per game. LOLerkates.

That, slightly faster patches, the amazing abillity to talk non stop about bull****, and having every crap game that no one will play on live. Thats what youre paying for (I did too at one time) but im not fool enough to think it was a good thing. If halo2 GR2 and all other games were 64player W/no lag then that would have been worth paying for (but not REALLY). But since you think 16 player w/same startup lag as every thing else and a buddy list (since I guess you dont have I.M.) and not being able to have PC dedicated servers is worth paying for then I guess you do get what you pay for. I'm just glad there arent that many of you (hate to send the message that console gamers are ***ing suckers)

Plus, the 360 is pretty cool, I hooked it up to my PC with the media thing .... Its more of an entertainment center thingy. Give the developers time to experiment with the power, And greater things will come.
