i thought halo wars was gonna be like C&C but with halo theme, but the demo really let me down.
the unit cap is horrible.
you cant build your own base, you have to move to a square that says you can build a base?
the base you build can only have so many structures ( fail)
it has potential, but then again so did endwar, but really most people want to either build massive base defenses like walls and towers and stuff, or build a massive grand army. neither of wich you can do in halo wars.
P.S. i heard halo wars originally was gonna be a FPS with hundreds of players, but the lag was to bad.. idk bout you but 50 players in a battlefield type game in the halo universe sounds better than any RTS =)

No.
Its not trying to be a complex RTS. It's trying to be a simple RTS that is enjoyable and can give Halo Players more fun and introduce them into the RTS Genre. Personally, it is innovating and a fun way to play RTS games. Much easier to control then C&C anyway...
But I dont think it was ever supposed to be an FPS. And 50 Players ruins the whole Halo Multiplayer. No matter what you do they can not make Halo like gears of war in which players actually take cover, move up while enemies reload, and have long gun fights. It will always be a run and shoot genre. 50 Players would end up with players all over the map assassinating you in the back..
I would like to see an XBL Battlefield game that is like Halo, but with Lancers from Gears - But Not Realistic like Call of Duty. I love long shootouts, where you pop up shoot, and drop back down.

I like the way they did it. I'm not generally a fan of RTS games, and only a moderate fan of Halo, but this game has me pretty stoked for the release!

No, it was never going to be a FPS. And Halo with 50 people would be ****ing ******ed. 4v4 is perfect for Halo.
I'm very impressed and I think this game is going to be a lot of fun.

I like the demo. The population cap should increase when you play larger maps as well. It does kind of suck that you can only build your base in specific spots, but you can use an elephant although it isn't as good. I'm guessing they did that because it would be annoying if one person got away and ran around the map building bases and stalling there loss.
What I would like is that if you could pick where you want your immobal base before the game starts.

I hope that you are right almost as much as I hope that my download of the demo will hurry up and get done haha. Love the sig too by the way. Maybe the Sox can pull it out this year and show the yankees that they wasted more money than any other team in the majors

I think that this game will be really fun. One of the best things about it is how simple it is. I think this is one of the best (if not the best) RTS's i have ever played.
This game will be very fun

I like the way it is made. I love C&C but I don't like how they made it for the 360. All people do is build super weapons as in tanks air and rush.
They made it harder to win witch I like. You have to think what you want to do in Halo Wars not just build something that's going to make the strangest army people right away.

I loved the Demo it was a little bit more realistic than C&C.
You should not be able to make a base anywhere you want, that is not realistic and it makes the game so much easier if you can set up where ever you want.
The voices sound so real and alive unlike C&C, I feel as if I am being talked to by a Cyborg or something. I rather here CP30 or R2-D2 say "Target Acquired.
But I just want to say the Cut scenes are AMAZINGGGG, No other game has better cut scenes.

I'm sort of disappointed that there isn"t really any economic aspect to the game. I've played all of Ensemble's RTSes and used to love managing economies on AoE1-3. This is just a battle simulator. Also no random maps is very lame.
I still find it fun though.

i was looking at some preview pictutres from the game, and it looks like you might get more customizable ability with your own base etc... idk for sure but thats what it looked like, we can only hope

well i really doubt that the UNSC and the Covenant need to gather wood and mine coin like in AoE but you still have to build warehouses and reactors thats your economy right there.

Yeah, but the aspect of the economy is kind of removed from the game. I used to go terrorize people's villagers and hit their economy on AoE. The only way you'd be able to do that in this game is go destroy a supply depot, which would be stupid because you would waste a ton of effort to deprive the enemy of a building that costs 100 resources and would get destroyed anyway if you destroyed their base.
I also used to win in AoE through superior economy almost all the time. I'm talking 80-90 villagers. I was an economic mad man. There's a limit on supply buildings here, the most you're going to build is about 7-8 tops over two bases because they take up building slots. So once you guys hit the warehouse "cap" you're not going to out-economy the other player anymore.

It liked it a lot actually. The game play was much better than C&C i hated the controls they really weren't made for Xbox like Halo Wars is.The setup of how the things in the game are and the base are better for competitive play.

I actually liked this more than AOE 3 and C&C3. Its just so simplified and easy to learn. And if the unit cap was any higher, it would just be crazy and unbalanced. I think its fine how it is now in the demo

Most people don't want to build a massive defense or huge army, you generalizing bastard. Most people on this ladder are going to think of their defense as much as their offense. Yes you can create those however. It's just a demo, idiot.
Who the **** told you Halo Wars was gonna be an FPS with 100+ players? You can't say an FPS is better than an RTS, especially when you don't fully examine the qualities of the RTS, and they're two completely different games.

I mean I thought it was a good idea for them to make it a simple game for people that like the series because if you give them an RTS with full economic capabilities and huge pop. caps it would be hard to figure it out. I thought they did it well.

this is so typical, to find a player wich is not happy with the way the game is made... i was also a little disapointed in the fact that i was expecting a CnC type of game, but in a different manner i kinda feel good of how they made the game a lot more simple so that players who arent generally fans of RTS can get a good experience out of it, and i do agree with you that it feels kinda odd the fact that you can only have a small army compared to CnC, and that you have to get very strategic with the buildings you have to make, not like CnC were you build 7 refinery's and 12 generators and all of the crap in between. what i always do in the demo is...
UNSC- follow the order- Supply pad, Elephant, Supply pad, generator, supply pad, supply pad, generator, Vehicle Depo. and get a strong start from there, and if you happen to get short on money use the scout to find the scattered crates all over the map... after the elephant is done and you have over 300 credits, rush the enemy base with the elephant, Deploy it in front of the enemy base and use it as an staging area, build 1 marine and 2 flame troopers, and from there on figure out what you are going to continue doing

wow some people are stupid if their wasent a set base and u could build as many buildings u want it would be like lord of the rings which was crap cos if a rush dident work then neither player would win cos u always get little kidas who build like 10 layers of walls and towers and loads of strating buildings so this way you are stoping people building loads of defence so the game is beatable. and if they dident have a unit cap u might find it gud wen u have alot of units but im sure if the other people had more than u then u would go cry like a little girl,
