poor attempt at a post. It is not a starcraft clone. Starcraft was a CnC clone or any other RTS clone. All RTS's go with a simple princable which is hard not to follow. Since you don't like then kindly see yourself out

I sort of agree with you in a way, I don't like how starcraft-like the maps are and how non economy-based it is.

I've been an Ensemble fan since forever and I really liked their economy-based games (AoE) and I liked random maps and the like. They really went in sort of a crappy direction here.

Still looking forward to the game though.

You're a self-absorbed *******. "My opinion overrules all, if you don't agree with it, GTFO" is what you're basically saying. Go **** yourself.

I see it more as trying to cross that bridge between Halo players and regular RTS players. A typical Halo 3 player is not prepared to spend more then 10 minutes on any given game. Admittedly the longer the game goes, the less interest that most players are able to hold and as a consequence more quitters.

A normal RTS gamer is able to sit down and play a game for 4 hours knowing that he is no further in that campaign then when he started the day. It doesn't bother them to work for days on a single campaign mission. In addition they deal with a much larger set of commands and button presses in order to move around and function in their games. They enjoy the complex features and generally micromanaging.

After playing the demo I feel they are trying to bring in the RTS elements in a game-style that will be more suited for their target audience. The audience in this case is the large body of Halo 3 players who are going to run out and buy this game the day it comes out. With that in mind they've made the games shorter then an average RTS in order to keep the average players desire to continue. They have also made the controls extremely simple and quick to pick up (like a FPS). Overall for their target audience they have made a game that is more likely to capture the majority, and as such they will make more money. In the end isn't that what every studio is trying to do?

I love halo wars, but i agree its way to simple. For me i love age of empires 3 and empire earth, where it is way more complicated. Yes i have to say the target adiunce is fans halo 3, who dont know how to enjoy RTS's

Starcraft owns any RTS. SC2 will overrun all PC games.

Starcraft is the most overrated PC game in the history of gaming. Three races, non-random maps, and not much content. Pro players didn't work out grand strategies and theories. They just memorized build orders and worked like machines.

It's interesting to look at the difference between the best AoK/AoE players and the best Starcraft players. The best AoK/AoE players are really smart guys. I mean usually very, very intelligent (I played back when AoK came out and read a lot of The Sherrif and Maimin_Matty's stuff when they ruled the game). Starcraft pros are Korean robots, just people who have build orders down to a tee. And you could do that because you could only play against two different races on non-random maps.

well then wouldnt all rts games be a "fail" attempt to star craft?
every company has the right to make their own game. their ideas on how to make the game. besides its on a console so.. of course it is going to be different.

Irvine I'm going to have to disagree with you. Yes Starcraft was based on builds but isn't every other RTS game? All of them are built upon strategies which are based on builds. Anyways, I'm not here to diss on any RTS, since I loved AoE and SC (Which I've played for 10 years).

You give SC to little credit, it's not overrated, it deserves it's titles and honors. Non-random based maps takes RTS gaming to another level, especially in Starcraft. Entire strategies are based on the non-random maps. Randomized maps like in AoE lead to geographical and strategic advantages towards certain players.

See the pros play, over 350 APM (I think there was one over 400 APM), AoE players cannot match that and that intense of gameplay during a game. Every build in Starcraft has a weakness and can be countered by another build, the game is balanced to the kilobyte.

Anyways, I love Halo Wars, but since it's built for the console, the game should not be economic based since a majority of players can't micro. It's a different style of RTS, if you don't like it, than don't play it.

Yello, all HW units are based off of the books and the Halo games. Not off of SC.

To you it is the most overrated game. You probably just arent that great at it. The game was released in 1998 and there are still tournaments played for 100,000 dollars. I right away thought that this game looked like starcraft and has the same feeling. There are a lot of similarities that they have. Any person that has played Starcraft and watched the Halo Wars demo knows this. Starcraft is the most popular game ever put in the PC and nothing will ever beat it. Starcraft 2 will dominate all the games that come out in this year. It is the most anticipated game IN THE WORLD for 2009.

I hope you dont say that you like this game because you would make yourself look stupid. Dont try.

Think really hard what you just said right now.... REALLY REALLY HARD... Dont you think its popular for a reason? But your right its the most popular game ever in PC but it sucks... eyemeaneyeguess. Its ok not to like a game. I dont like brett farve cause im a bears fan.. But you have to respect the guy cause hes the greatest of all time IMO. You cant deny starcrafts credibility. YOU WILL LOOK STUPID. Nothing will ever touch starcraft... Put my life on it.. Not even a console game.

If you like Halo wars you will like starcraft.... As long as your not as stubborn as all these halo people are. But the game came out in 1998 so the graphics arent great. Starcraft 2 coming out this year. FTW
