I take anything from whey to casein to soy. Your best bet is to take it from food and nothing processed

Why would one use different types ie. Whey, Casein, Soy

What's the benefit of using them?

Casein is a slow absorbing protein, so people tend to use it before bed so their anabolic levels stay high through the night and you're not starving your body. You increase your chance of getting fat by going to bed hungry (The Abs Diet...Great book FYI)

I believe weigh and soy are fast so you take those right after to work out, because when you work out you tear your muscles and protein helps heal as well as build, so you want it there ASAP. I usually drink a gatorade or Vitamin Water with my protein shake to spike my insulin levels so the nutrients and minerals get to the muscles faster.

I don't take any protein supplement. It's a waste of money considering I'm not an intense body builder.
My body has more than enough amino acids.

i take whey protein adn creatine this is a good combo cuz the creatine takes the protein that your taking and puts it in your muscles and thats really where you need the protein you body should put some of the protain to your muscles but if you take creatine it puts more of the protain you take to your muscles

I'm taking a blend of glucosimine and Chondroitin as well as fish oil for my joints. Works a lot better then just using glucosimine imo.

They sell a lot of different blends, i'm taking twinlabs joint fuel atm. Working pretty good so far after about 5 weeks. Still having some problems, but over time they should go away.

I've had joint problems since I was 14.... now I'm 20... they went away in my mid teens but then once I graduated and joined the Air Force they came back. Right now it doesn't bother me too bad because I don't lift free weights anymore.
