That's all punk

No it's not. Punk is like The Ramones (even though they considered themselves pop rock) and The Clash. Hardcore and Punk pretty much go hand in hand though.

Believe me I have a few books on the american hardcore scene, the only band I named that could possibly be called punk is the misfits.

The punk movement ended in the late 70s. Those are hardcore bands.

1. Bad Brains
2. Black Flag
3. Husker Du (more post-hardcore?)
4. Minor Threat

I dont really have a fifth, i don't really like the genre too much. I like post-harcore/post-punk stuff a lot better.(minutemen, sonic youth, refused, fugazi, etc..)

I like both, i have all the underoath albums, including the first 2 with less than 2k copies. I still love underoath and i actually enjoy maylene because i think dallas's voice is better for that kickbooty southern metal. haha

it depends on what you class as hardcore
every single person has different ideas on it

i name metalcore bands as hardcore bands anyway just because imo its still hardcore but with metal influences
i would never class misfits as hardcore id say its punk in general hardcore is louder with breakdowns

Okay, a few things here are bothering me. Punk Hardcore came way before this breakdown/2-step "hardcore" ****. There are some good bands that play like that, but some bands that you are naming, like "The Devil Wears Prada" and "Underoath" are absolute ****. Anyways, I'll combine a list of some bands that are punk hardcore and "HxC."

1) None More Black
2) Parkway Drive (these guys can play instruments AND play breakdowns, interesting)
3) RECON (not too skilled but so brutal)
4) Western Addiction
5) Ligeia (metalcore.. whatever.. **** you)

Anyone who knows about the American hardcore scene knows that the misfits and the dead kennedy's are two of the biggest influences on hardcore. They were actually part of the hardcore movement. The misfits played extremely loud and thrashy so I don't know what your talking about. You must be confused with the bands today that try to act hardcore and call themselves hardcore when in reality they don't know the first thing about it.

Okay, I just think TDWP are horrible with instruments (not sure if they got any better or not) [and, yes, I do realize this isn't regarding your post, but I thought that I'd address TDWP and then talk about your quote]

I will agree that I do love me some breakdowns, but most of the bands aren't too "talented."

RECON is pretty big... Ligeia is pretty big; suprised you havn't heard of either of them. Ligeia is kind of Killswitch-like and RECON is one of the most brutal bands (even though their new **** isn't that great. )

Western Addiction is a really small band, they are like punk hardcore, but they are pretty good.
Same goes with None More Black, but they are much more well known.

Some "breakdown" hardcore bands that you should take a listen to:

RECON
Ligeia
THE MILES BETWEEN (check them out... myspace.com/themilesbetween ...i'd probably listen to Suture Self or Molotov ****tail)
For The Fallen Dreams
My Children My Bride (myspace.com/mcmb listen to On Wings of Integrity. So brutal.)
xAFBx
Wintch Mob (not really that good instrumental wise.. but they are ****ing PISSED)[myspace.com/wintchmoblv]

Haha, I forgot about Down To Nothing. They are pretty f*cking awesome.
I'm in Rochester, NY and our scene is pretty big here too, we get great hardcore bands coming through here non-stop. Venues keep getting closed down though due to "crews" and fights.

Some local bands up here you should check out:
Heavy Hearted (myspace.com/heavyheartedny ..they got signed like within 2 months of forming.)
Seric (myspace.com/seric ..their singer is kinda.. well.. not too great, but whenever they play a show, sh*t gets crazy)

The thing with me is I hate Straight-Edge in general. Love the music, but whenever I see a kid with straight edge clothing, I just cannot help but tell them that they are labeling themselves. Then they somehow try to tell me that they aren't labeling themselves when they have xXx on their shirts. I dunno though, I just like getting into a pit, hitting people and them hitting me, and it's just a good time (until intentinal fights/crews show up... that **** is such a joke.)

yea bro. cant go to a show without seeing a fight haha .
will most definitly check out those local bands sometime. Im always looking for new stuff.
yea I use to call myself Straight-Edge. I admit I still follow most of the "rules" but I dont label myself sXe and go around putting x's on my hands. yeah I have straight edge band shirts but im supporting the band not sXe in general.
haha yeah real hxc pits are fun. I went to warped tour ( im sorry but too many ******* there) and when all the crews from normal shows showed up haha everyone got wrecked there. It was pretty lame thats why im just sticking to shows and no main stream band tours like that.

Man, I just don't get the whole straight-edge at all.. anyone that trys to say otherwise is.. well, straight-edge. I do agree that it's fine if it's on a band shirt, though. Yeah I know what you mean about Warped Tour pits though. Funniest things I've ever witnessed. HAHA!

Fights just ruin the show though. Just dance damnit.

Look I don't feel like saying this again because I pretty much have to say this on every hardcore thread, Dead Kennedy's, Misfits, Black Flag, minor threat, etc.... They are all considered Punk - Hardcore and unlike any of the bands you named they will be remembered while Comeback Kid (***est vocals) and Bleeding Through (*** as scene ****) will be forgotten totally in a few years. They don't tear **** up, those are the type of bands that kids do that **** where they mosh by themselves. Danzig and Henry Rollins now they tear **** up.

Sorry I don't take the time to see crappy metalcore bands live. I know nothing? you would not know a real hardcore band if it bit you on the ****ing back. Bleeding Through and The Devil Wears Prada is this thread a ****ing joke.
